Sidenetting for bird control in vineyards

In addition to huge cost savings there are many other advantages to the side net system. These include the low shading afforded by the transparent threads and because the top of the vine is left open, growth and ventilation are not inhibited. Tests suggest that vines protected with side netting produce grapes with a higher brix level than the same vines using overhead netting.  Because the net is held close to the vine, spraying and inter row mowing can still be done. Sidenetting can be laid and retrieved quickly with reduced labour costs.

Narrow mesh SideNet Polynet SideNet is an Italian manufactured narrow mesh sidenetting developed by Polynet Products Limited for the protection of grapevines. Weighing approximately 17g/sqm, SideNet is stronger and easier to handle than the much lighter round bale netting that it was developed from. SideNet has a mesh size of just 13mm x 13mm to exclude the smallest of birds. Polynet SideNet is knitted from high quality UV stabilised transparent polyethylene with contrasting coloured edges for quick and easy edge identification during fastening and while re-rolling.  Available in roll sizes: 0.8m x 2000m, 1.23m x 2000m, 1.23m x 100m, 1.64m x 2000m and 1.64m x 100m.

KR Round bale netting For growers who are less troubled by very small birds and or who are looking for the most cost effective option, Polynet Products offers heavy weight round bale netting in two different widths. KR is a heavy weight (14g/m) round bale netting, knitted from U.V. stabilised transparent thread. KR netting is heavier than most (if not all) other round bale nets available and is therefore ideal for use by grapegrowers. The larger chain width provides a triangular hole size of about 25mm x 25mm, which is a sufficient deterrent for many birds. Available in two widths: 1.24m x 3000m and 1.5m x 3000m.  NEXT PAGE
